Tonatiuh was one of the mythical gods of the Aztec Sun calendar. He is a warrior god. Huitzilopochtli (god of war) was also a sun god. Tonatiuh is the present sun or age of the Aztec Cosmos. The Aztecs believe that this age will end in earthquakes that shake the entire world.

Lela Cargill is a new artist to the Austin, Texas area. She has traveled extensively in Mexico and studied Aztec and Maya art for many years. She is currently working in acrylics on canvas and has many more gods to paint.
